Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dr Terence Rae Moopanar is a diligent, compassionate and highly skilled Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in shoulder and elbow, complex trauma, musculoskeletal infection, major limb reconstruction and complex arthroplasty (shoulder, elbow, hip and knee) surgery. He works as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon across several hospitals including two of Sydney’s largest public hospitals – Royal North Shore Hospital and Nepean Hospital. He also operates at Ryde Hospital and several private hospitals including North Shore Private Hospital, Mater Hospital and Nepean Private Hospital.
Dr Moopanar has obtained prestigious orthopaedic fellowships at the Shoulder Research Institute (Royal North Shore Hospital) and the world renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (London, UK). His experience and sub-specialty training in these high-volume tertiary referral centres have provided him with a unique set of skills used to manage a variety of complex orthopaedic admissions, with a particular interest in the upper limb and complex arthroplasty in both the public and private sector.
Dr Moopanar has been appointed as the Director of Orthopaedic Training at Royal North Shore Hospital and is a Clinical Senior Lecturer (with qualification) at The University of Sydney. He has lectured, supervised, demonstrated and facilitated junior medical staff and students and taught graduates and undergraduates in clinical settings. He has completed a PhD in musculoskeletal physiology with scholarship and prize and has a number of publications in leading journals and textbooks as well as subsequent presentations in national and international conferences. He is involved in high quality research and audits in the Orthopaedic Department – which he believes is necessary to ensure that his patients receive the best and most up to date treatment options available.
In his spare time, Dr Moopanar is a family man who enjoys spending quality time with his wife and 3 children. He is also a keen athlete and enjoys going to the gym as well as the occasional round of golf.
